Lacy (Strickler) Heiberger - Director, Strategic Planning & Business Development at Virginia Premier Health Plan, Inc. Ms. Heiberger currently serves as the Director of Strategic Planning and Business Development at Virginia Premier Health Plan, the managed care division of VCU Health. In this role, she oversees projects involving strategic planning, business development, marketing and government relations. Ms. Heiberger previously worked for GE Healthcare’s consulting arm, assisting clients nationwide with operational efficiency and patient safety challenges. As a registered nurse with Intensive Care experience, she became known for her clinical expertise and was selected to help build GE’s Patient Safety Organization, as Clinical Lead. Ms. Heiberger holds degrees in Economics from the University of Virginia and Nursing from Georgetown University, as well as an MBA from the University of Richmond. She maintains a Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Shaival Kapadia, M.D. is Chief Medical Officer and Co-Founder at both Iggbo and C3 Nexus. In addition, he serves as Co-Director of Bon Secours Heart and Vascular Institute. His decades of experience as a board-certified cardiologist, author, and nationally recognized speaker bring a mastery of clinical medicine that’s often lacking in preventative care. But Dr. Kapadia’s real goal is to change the way we care for real people.
Dr. Kapadia received his medical degree from the University of Virginia. He then completed his residency in internal medicine at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia. He went on to complete a fellowship in cardiology at Brown University at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. He is board certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Disease.
Michael Matthews is CEO of inHEALTH. Mr. Matthews has served the healthcare industry for over 35 years, leading a variety of organizations dedicated to improvements in the effectiveness and efficiency of healthcare delivery, while also actively promoting population and community health. Since 1996, Mr. Matthews has served as the CEO of inHEALTH, providing leadership and a strategic vision for accountable care and population health services. He also leads MD Value Care’s participation in the Medicare Shared Savings Program (ACO), providing organizational, care coordination, and information systems infrastructure for the organization. Mr. Matthews concurrently serves as CEO of Central Virginia Health Network, MedVirginia (a regional HIE) and ConnectVirginia (the statewide HIE for the Commonwealth of Virginia). Accomplishments include being the first HIE to connect to the nationwide health information network and the first HIE to connect to the Veterans Health Administration and Department of Defense health records systems. His efforts have been recognized by such organizations as eHealth Initiative (eHealth Advocate of the Year), InformationWeek (“20 Health IT Leaders Who Are Driving Change”), and Becker’s Hospital Review (“26 of the Smartest People in Health IT”).
Rufus Phillips is EVP of Business Development for n1Health, an early-stage company that has harnessed the momentum and business insight produced by the concierge medicine movement to create the fastest growing network of private physicians in the history of the industry. He is also affiliated with Healthcare Solutions Connection (HSC), a national consulting network focused on assisting providers and health systems with the transition to value-based care delivery and payment models. Previously, Mr. Phillips served as EVP/CEO of the Medical Society of Virginia (MSV), the State’s premier professional association for physicians providing advocacy and health policy expertise at the state and federal levels as well as a broad array of practice services, including HIT and medical malpractice insurance. Prior to MSV, he headed up business development and government relations for Intrinergy Holdings LP, now Enviva LP (NYSE: EVA), a renewable energy startup founded in Richmond. Mr. Phillips received his MBA from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business.
Mike Upchurch is the co-founder and COO of Fuzzy Logix and co-founder and CEO of Privincia. Privincia is a healthcare analytics company that uses patent pending technology to identify, predict and change habitual behavior which improves quality of life and helps prevent or reduce the cost of chronic diseases. Fuzzy Logix is the world’s leading in-database analytics company and has delivered ground breaking solutions in clinical trials simulation, quality and efficiency of care analysis and chronic disease prediction and prevention. Prior to launching Privincia and Fuzzy Logix, Mike worked at Bank of America where he earned a patent and built and delivered the strategic and operational plan that grew their telephone mortgage lending business from $11B to $20B in 4 years. He has over 20 years of experience designing and delivering analytics solutions in a broad range of industries (and has the scars to prove it).
